Internal bubbles, clouds and cracks in sapphire blanks are usually found only after grinding and polishing — when the processing cost has already been spent.

SapphiroScan™ inspects every blank before processing, so your processing line works only on material that can become a usable cover. Model assumptions
  • The number of covers processed per year stays the same; SapphiroScan™ changes which blanks enter processing.
  • All SapphiroScan™ operating costs are included: equipment, consumables and maintenance, at 19 h per day and 48 weeks per year.
  • Conservative sorting performance: 85 % of defective blanks are removed and 5 % of good blanks are set aside for re-check.
  • Blanks removed before processing keep 30 % of their purchase value.
